I was recently watching Anne Hathaway and Robert De Niro movie, The Intern and was struck by the very cool converted warehouse office of a booming e-commerce fashion start-up company run by Jules (Anne Hathaway).
Later in the movie we are introduced to Jules’ New York brownstone home, which just had me drooling even more in all its layered, eclectic, interesting, sophisticated, homely goodness.
The penny dropped that this particular movie creator, Nancy Meyers had gone to much effort to provide her audience with interior eye candy. It had me thinking back to how a previous Nancy Meyers movie, Something’s Gotta Give, had women everywhere lusting over and replicating the Hamptons home of movie heroine, Erica Barry (Diane Keaton).
It occurred to me just how influential movie sets can be in the world of interior design and for those looking for inspiration for a home makeover, so I rounded up 5 movies that showcase inspiring interior design in my column for Open Colleges. Read it here.
I’m also interested to learn about more movies with gobsmackingly fabulous interior sets so send them my way.
